Washburn @ Northwest Missouri State
The Ichabod's last game of the season was against the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats. The Bearcats came into this game 9-1 and ranked 7th in division II football. Washburn held their own at the beginning of the game and was only down 14-0 at halftime to many peoples surprise. They seemed to almost start a comeback at the start of the second half closing the gap to 10 points after a 22 yard touchdown pass from Zeke Palmer making the score 17-7. Though, just as Washburn began gaining momentum NWSU took complete control of the game scoring 14 unanswered. Washburn scored again but it wouldn't matter as the final score was 31-14 with the Bearcats coming out on top.
This season wasn't the best for the Ichabod football team as they finished with a final record of 4-7. There was a lot of bright moments for them though and next year is guaranteed to bring a lot of surprises and hopefully a successful season.
Northeastern State @ Washburn
Saturday was Washburn's last home game of the season and the Senior's last chance to perform for the loyal Ichabod fans, and boy did they put on a great one. They were going up against the Northeastern State RiverHawks who had been having a tough season thus far coming into the game with an atrocious record of 0-9. Washburn came into the game aggressive and looking to score in any way possible. They shut down NSU the whole game and only allowed 7 points. Washburn scored 1 defensive, 2 special teams, and 3 offensive touchdown with a final of 42-7. This was a great way to send the seniors off and the Ichabod's final home record for the year was an average 3-3.
Washburn's final game of the year will be against the defending national champion Northwest Missouri State Bearcats. The game was originally scheduled to be at Arrowhead stadium but has been moved to NMSU. It will be at 1 O'clock on November 15th at Bearcat Stadium in Maryville, Missouri.

Emporia St. @ Washburn
November 1st is a day to remember because we completely dominated bitter rival Emporia State. From the get go the Ichabods exploded on to the scene and started the game off with 23 unanswered points. Dominating every aspect of the game Washburn had back to back rushing touchdowns by Vershon Moore, a field goal, and an 85 yard punt return also by Vershon Moore in the first half alone. In the second half Emporia State gave Washburn a scare starting off with 10 consecutive points. That was handled by the Ichabod offense as they returned with 13 more points putting the nail in the coffin. The game's final was 36-10 with Washburn the victor. Vershon Moore had a career day with 4 total touchdowns in the victory.
Next week the Ichabods hopefully can turn this win into another as they face Northeastern State University. The game will be at Yager stadium and is Washburn's senior day. They play on November 15th at 2 p.m

Washburn @ Central Oklahoma
The Ichabods traveled to Edmond, Oklahoma to face the Central Oklahoma Bronchos on October 25th. Washburn got off to a very quick start scoring the game's first 10 points. The Bronchos then woke up from their beginning slumber and scored 2 touchdown to go up 14-0 while catching a lucky break on an onside kick and then moving the ball downfield on a 90 yard drive. The rest of the game went back and forth with each team not wanting to give the other a big cushion. Then with the score 26-28, Bronchos, UCO running back Chas Stallard broke a 60 yard touchdown run with 3:40 left in the 4th quarter putting the nail in the coffin. The final score was 26-35 with UCO getting the W.
Washburn next game will be against longtime rival Emporia State University on November 1st at 1.pm.

Missouri Western @ Washburn
October 18th was Washburn's homecoming game, and excitement was all around, but unfortunately that excitement was dead in the water before the end of the first quarter. The Missouri Western Griffons proved that they were the better team from the get go starting the game off dominating the first quarter. By the time the game had reached halftime the score was 34-0, Griffons on top. As the game progressed the Ichabods were able to throw a couple TD's, although none of it really mattered as Missouri Western won with a final score of 40-14. Washburn's running game was completely stopped with a total of 43 total rushing yards, this includes star running back Vershon Moore who was held to 17 yards on the ground.
Washburn plays at University of Central Oklahoma October 25th at 1pm, it's sure to be a great game.

Washbun @ UCM
This week Washburn faced the University of Central Missouri. Unfortunately for the Ichabods it wasn't much of a game as they were shutout 44-0. Central Missouri dominated every single aspect of the game and embarrassed the unprepared Bods in this blowout.
Looking ahead to more positive things, next week Washburn has their homecoming game. They'll be matched up against the 4-2 Northwest Missouri State University Griffons in what's sure to be a very exciting and entertaining game. The Griffons have proven to be a formidable opponent by beating many of the teams Washburn has been defeated by. Let's hope the Bods are ready for a tough one and they can get the win.
The game will be on October 18th at 1 p.m in Yager Stadium.

Fort Hays State @ Washburn
The Ichabods
were in a dog fight on Saturday with Fort Hays State University. The game was a
close one all the way through, and both teams had their up and down's. The teams
were tied late in the 4th quarter and Washburn had the ball near their endzone.
The Bods began to drive down the field and eventually quarterback Zeke Palmer
hit Vershon Moore coming out of the backfield for a 21 yard reception. With 40
seconds left and nearing the endzone, the Ichabod's were beginning to have hope
until Zeke Palmer threw an interception and the drive stopped. Fort Hays then
kneeled the ball and the game went into overtime.
Hays got the ball first in overtime
and began to move the ball, but were stopped by the stout Washburn defense and
were forced to kick a field goal making the score 24-21, Tigers. Washburn now
had their chance and they capitalized on it by moving the ball steadily to start their drive.
Zeke Palmer then threw a dart to the back of the endzone to Dajuan Beard on
what was initially called a touchdown. The Bod players stormed the field in
celebration, as the refs discussed the call and eventually made the
questionable decision to rule the catch incomplete. The teams calmed down and
came back onto the field and on the very next play running back Vershon Moore
scurried up the middle for a 15 yard touchdown run which resulted in a 27-24
Ichabod Victory.
Next Saturday Washburn travels to
Warrensburg, Missouri to play the University of Central Missouri. The game
begins at 1:30pm, central time

Washburn @ MSSU
This weeks game was a tough one to say the least. The Ichabods dominated almost every aspect of the game except for one very important part, turnovers. To start Washburn won the coin toss, elected to recieve, and immediately drove the ball down the field to take the lead 7-0, but it was all downhill from there. MSSU pounded the ball with there rushing game and had a total of 5 touchdowns on the ground, as their defense came up with 4 key interceptions which ultimately decided the game with a final score of 42-21 snapping Wahburn's 9 game win streak against the Lions. As dissapointing as the loss was we did have some positive perfomances come out of it, for example running back Vershon Moore had 185 all-purpose yards and a touchdown and wideout DeJuan Beard had 7 catches for 110 yards and a touchdown.
Things could possibly be looking up for the 1-3 Ichabods as they play Fort Hays State University this upcoming Saturday. Fort Hays just upset highly touted Pittsburg State on Saturday and could be coming into this game overconfident seeing Washburn's poor record. Although the Bods' have definitely played better than their record shows.
The game will start at 1 pm on October 4th at Yager Stadium.

Washburn @ MSSU Game Preview
With the upcoming away game against Missouri Southern State University I thought I'd do a little game preview.
The Lions are coming into this game with the same record as the Ichabods at 1-2. With losses against number 1 ranked Northwest Missouri and number 22 ranked Emporia State and their only win coming against Nebraska-Kearney, which is the same team Washburn has beaten. These two teams haven't played since 2011 but if history repeats itself Washburn is bound to have a victory having won the past 9 matchups. MSSU has a unique triple offense that utilizes a relentless rushing attack while rarely passing. This offense can prove tricky for defenses who don't prepare so lets hope co-defensive coordinators Brock Luke and Zach Watkins have our defense ready.
The game will be at Hughes Stadium in Joplin Missouri on September 27th at 6:30 pm

Game 3 Pitt State @ Washburn
This Saturday Washburn was matched up against the number 8 ranked Pittsburg State Gorillas. This game was the MIAA game of the week and was was a great matchup on paper but in reality the Gorillas had this one won before they stepped on the field. Pitt State was ranked number 8 for a reason and they came out planning to show why as they demolished the Ichabods in all aspect of the game. At halftime the score was 28-0 with the Gorilla's showing no signs of letting up. A few minutes after half there was a lighting delay and at that point many of the fans proceeded to leave. The final score was 42-0 with Pitt devastating Wahburn.
Washburn's next game is against Joplin's Missouri Southern State as they'll be trying to bounce back from their difficult loss.

Howdy Folks my name is Tyler Buchanan and this is my blog about the Wahburn Ichabod football team. I decided to write about the team because I love the game of football and what's better than writing about something you love? Nothing, that's what so if you wanna know how the Ichabods are doing just click into my blog and you'll be sure to find out.
It's football season ladies and gentlemen! This year is bound to be an exciting one and Washburn is looking to have an alright season. The offense is filled with very experienced players at all the skill positions, so be prepared to see lots of points on that new scoreboard. The Defense is looking stout with an all around good secondary along with some solid run support.
So far the Ichabod's have played some good football with a record of 1-1. They lost a heart breaker against Lindenwood 38-44 at home. Then defeated Kearney 10-7 with a field goal at the end to win.
Their next game is at home against Pittsburg State.
