Missouri Western @ Washburn

October 18th was Washburn's homecoming game, and excitement was all around, but unfortunately that excitement was dead in the water before the end of the first quarter. The Missouri Western Griffons proved that they were the better team from the get go starting the game off dominating the first quarter. By the time the game had reached halftime the score was 34-0, Griffons on top. As the game progressed the Ichabods were able to throw a couple TD's, although none of it really mattered as Missouri Western won with a final score of 40-14. Washburn's running game was completely stopped with a total of 43 total rushing yards, this includes star running back Vershon Moore who was held to 17 yards on the ground.

Washburn plays at University of Central Oklahoma October 25th at 1pm, it's sure to be a great game.

Washbun @ UCM

This week Washburn faced the University of Central Missouri. Unfortunately for the Ichabods it wasn't much of a game as they were shutout 44-0. Central Missouri dominated every single aspect of the game and embarrassed the unprepared Bods in this blowout.

Looking ahead to more positive things, next week Washburn has their homecoming game. They'll be matched up against the 4-2 Northwest Missouri State University Griffons in what's sure to be a very exciting and entertaining game. The Griffons have proven to be a formidable opponent by beating many of the teams Washburn has been defeated by. Let's hope the Bods are ready for a tough one and they can get the win.

The game will be on October 18th at 1 p.m in Yager Stadium.

Fort Hays State @ Washburn

The Ichabods were in a dog fight on Saturday with Fort Hays State University. The game was a close one all the way through, and both teams had their up and down's. The teams were tied late in the 4th quarter and Washburn had the ball near their endzone. The Bods began to drive down the field and eventually quarterback Zeke Palmer hit Vershon Moore coming out of the backfield for a 21 yard reception. With 40 seconds left and nearing the endzone, the Ichabod's were beginning to have hope until Zeke Palmer threw an interception and the drive stopped. Fort Hays then kneeled the ball and the game went into overtime.
Hays got the ball first in overtime and began to move the ball, but were stopped by the stout Washburn defense and were forced to kick a field goal making the score 24-21, Tigers. Washburn now had their chance and they capitalized on it by moving the ball steadily to start their drive. Zeke Palmer then threw a dart to the back of the endzone to Dajuan Beard on what was initially called a touchdown. The Bod players stormed the field in celebration, as the refs discussed the call and eventually made the questionable decision to rule the catch incomplete. The teams calmed down and came back onto the field and on the very next play running back Vershon Moore scurried up the middle for a 15 yard touchdown run which resulted in a 27-24 Ichabod Victory.
Next Saturday Washburn travels to Warrensburg, Missouri to play the University of Central Missouri. The game begins at 1:30pm, central time
